Mechanical characterization and elastic stiffness degradation of unstabilized rammed earth

Rammed earth is attracting renewed interest due to its sustainability. In this work, a mechanical characterization of unstabilized rammed presented. Compressive strength, Young's modulus, and Poisson's ratio were determined, with the first these being most representative property earth. Stress – strain curves obtained from uniaxial compression tests. Creep great importance in long-term assessment historical buildings design new ones. Samples subjected constant load for 15 days study their creep behavior. order simulate behavior material, different rheological models fitted experimental results. The instantaneous deformation samples caused by sudden additional (maintaining previous service level) was also studied. This time that phenomenon, called elastic stiffness degradation, has been studied material.
